200 million people in India depend on craft for livelihood.

COVID-19 has put these livelihoods at risk.

In 30 years, the number of Indian artisans has decreased by 30%.

COVID19 will accelerate this decrease further. Most artisan-producers tend to be small and remain unmapped and unrecognised. They also lack the right support — access to relevant technologies, innovation, networks, consumer insights and markets. It is time to reinvest in our creative and cultural capital.

What we do.

We aim to catalyse self-reliance and responsible innovation within India’s artisan economy by providing access to knowledge, resources, and networks that empower artisan-producers and first-time entrepreneurs focused on sustainable production and consumption.

The future is handmade.

The global artisan economy is expected to grow to $985 billion by 2023. After agriculture, the artisan sector is the largest source of employment in India; 50% of people employed are women. Global supply chains are shifting gears to source the unique as consumers demand more sustainable, locally-made products and experiences.
